Haiku is the name of this small robot, fashioned from discarded boxes.

With a reflective personality, Haiku’s quiet observations find simple,

natural objects and ideas to be fascinating, worthy and beautiful.

The design for these works is influenced by two Japanese contributions.

Following the spirit of a written haiku, the artwork is brief in line and imagery,

encouraging curiosity and enjoyment of the natural beauty of simplicity.

Wabi-sabi is another Japanese idea that inspires these works.

Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry,

roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, and intimacy.

Each Haiku is hand printed on hand built white wooden ‘boxes’ (8 x 8 x 2.5 inches)

and may be hung on a wall or displayed standing on any flat surface.

The image on each Haiku exists well on it’s own, but the design of each

piece is an open ended scene, making them perfect to combine multiple

pieces in endless ways to create your own personal Haiku series.
